Antique Caucasian Shirvan Runner circa 1880. Shirvan is located to the south of the Caucasus mountain range and is to the east of Gendje and to the west of the Baku peninsula. Local weaving tradition in this region excelled in exploring the numerous possible variations using a limited palette of color to maximal effect. They produced scatter size formats for the most part with occasional runner formats as well. Runners tend to be harder to find as they weren't produced and in demand as much back then.
