Tibetan rugs are highly decorative carpets usually found in small sizes and were usually made on vertical looms. From time to time you find pictorial examples. Due to the political consequences, the rug weaving in tibet rapidly declined in in the beginning of the 20th century. The families of weavers fled to neighboring coutnries and revived the art from there in the 1970s.and beyond.
